Adults > Chemical Dependency Program
In addition to crisis stabilization, the Acadia Abilene Chemical Dependency Program focuses on rehabilitation and recovery for adults ages 18 and older. With inpatient and outpatient programming that spans up to 10 weeks, adults with chemical dependency issues regain control of their lives - one step at a time.
In our Adult Chemical Dependency Program we treat addiction to alcohol and other substances. If the patient is physically dependant on drugs or alcohol, he or she will likely require inpatient detoxification. A physician, along with highly trained nursing staff, will focus on the patient's physical wellbeing, while our Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and other Mental Health Professionals will conduct ongoing therapy with the patient. The primary focus of treatment is breaking the cycle of addiction, and in addition, we address other underlying issues. Components of our program include:
- education about the cycle of addiction,
- teaching healthy coping skills,
- individual, family, and group therapy,
- developing a comprehensive treatment plan,
- integration into the AA or NA community,
- providing detoxification in a safely monitored environment, and
- developing a relapse prevention plan.
We utilize the 12-step Model within our Chemical Dependency Program, and highly encourage engagement in Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. We provide weekly meetings on campus at the Acadia Lodge. Additionally, our Aftercare Program is designed to hold patients accountable and help them to be successful upon discharge. Aftercare takes place every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Acadia Lodge.
